Construction company work is an inherently dangerous job. From the heavy machinery to the threat of falling debris, workers must be constantly aware of their environment. Because they are working in public, densely populated areas, they also need to be aware of the potential dangers they might create for the surrounding people. When they fail to do so, innocent bystanders can become seriously injured. In such a situation, it would be wise to contact an expert personal injury attorney at 617-787-3700.
In October 2016, Loy Clark Pipeline, Co. was working on a project in downtown Portland, Oregon when their digging triggered a gas explosion. As a result of the explosion, Gail Needham, a dental hygienist who was working nearby, was reportedly sent to the floor and covered in glass, causing multiple injuries including lacerations and a concussion. Now, she has filed a negligence suit against the construction company, seeking to recover damages for her physical as well as her emotional suffering. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Jason Kafoury.
According to the the allegations of the suit, Loy Clark Pipeline was responsible for the gas explosion because they failed to adequately map out the area they were working on. Accordingly, they failed to perceive that a gas pipe would exist right where they were digging. Had they known this information, according to the lawsuit, the explosion would never have occurred and Ms. Needham would never have been injured. A spokesperson for Loy Clark has indicated that this is not the first lawsuit resulting from the explosion, but declined to comment further.
